((Sentinels Server hit with a case of the moos.))

The Sentinels server was overwhelmed by tauren tribes today. The only consequences of this were a lingering smell of cattle and lots and lots of dancing.

Shadow of Sylvanas: History

The Formation of the Order

Shortly after Sylvanas and her rebel undead took Lordaeron from the Scourge and formed the Forsaken, a secret order was created. Sylvanas approached the former Arch-mage of the Kirin Tor, Nokzhal Frostreaver, with the charge of gathering together the most powerful and faithful Forsaken to the cause. This order would answer only to the Dark Lady herself as her own personal tool to ensure that Forsaken interests were represented, officially or not, in all major events across the lands of Azeroth and Kalimdor. From their hidden nature and discrete methods, they came to be known as the “Shadow of Sylvanas.”

The “Second” Plague

Nokzhal Frostreaver set to work, aligning the Shadow closely with the alchemists of the Royal Apothecary Society. The Shadow began devoting its efforts to obtaining rare herbs and powerful items that would lend itself to the creation of a second plague with its effects being two-fold: free any Scourge from the control of the Lich King and convert any living resistance into undead. With the recent opening of the Dark Portal, new, more powerful artifacts are currently being sought after to complete the plague.

The Opening of the Dark Portal and the Rise of the Sin’dorei

Without warning, the Dark Portal was reopened by the Demon Lord Kazaak and the threat of the Burning Legion once again resurfaced. Although the combined might of the Horde and Alliance forces pushed back the infernal demonic legions, many new dangerous foes exist in the shattered world of Outland. Still, in the presence of danger come great rewards and many forgotten sources of power waiting to be tapped for use by the Forsaken and their allies, the Sin’dorei.

After the destruction of the Sunwell, Prince Kael’thas and the blood elves loyal to him sought to forge a new existence for themselves in Outland. Already the city of Silvermoon has commenced reconstruction with new sources of demonic energies sent by Kael’thas himself for the blood elves to satiate their magical addiction. The Forsaken, many of them formally elves after the fall of Quel’thalas including their Queen Sylvanas forged stronger ties with the Sin’dorei, strengthening their hold over the northern lands of Azeroth against the Scourge forces. Haunted with nostalgia over her homeland and her lost sister Alleria, Sylvanas approached Nokzhal with a new task: recruit from the Sin’dorei to bolster the Shadow so that it may also have agents amongst the blood elves. Many Sin’dorei willingly joined the cause.

The Absence, the Regent Lord and the “Fallen”

The closer ties between the two Horde races quickly proved beneficial. With contact lost with Kael’thas, the Shadow promised all Sin’dorei that they would aid them in their pilgrimage to discover the whereabouts of their missing prince. Among the faithful, the cold and shrewd blood knight Seriina Numenesse greeted the Forsaken-Sin’dorei alliance with great zeal. She quickly distinguished herself from other blood elves with her skills in combat as well as a tactician; her dedication earned her the title of Regent Lord of the Shadow, further cementing the bond between the two races.

Sylvanas once again presented a new task to Nokzhal, one that he had to accomplish alone in complete secrecy. Without warning, the Arch-mage disappeared one evening into the swamplands of Zangarmarsh beyond the Dark Portal, leaving the Regent Lord Seriina Numenesse in his stead. The mysterious disappearance of their leader caused much restlessness in the order with many members questioning his motives. Furthermore, that a blood elf was left in charge of operations in his absence was too much to bear for one warrior. Kanashii, a high ranking Dark Lord in the Shadow that had been missing for some time during the absence of Nokzhal. Rumours quickly spread that he was in league with the Scourge and was planning a defection. Eventually, Kanashii did leave the order and his allegiances remain questionable. Today he is simply known as the “Fallen.”

Gorbon and the Royal Apothecary Society

The noticeably lower moral caused Sylvanas to request regular reports from her new protégé. Concerned about the lack of activity and attendance, part of her unease is a lack of presence in the Undercity and abroad. To ensure action is taken, she assigned a devout member of the Forsaken and member of the Royal Apohthecary Society, Gorbon Ashloy to oversee current activities of the order and to report on its value and continued necessity. Somewhat annoyed with the task, Gorbon came to see this assignment as a possibility to advance his research into the new plague. To this end his stuck a deal with Seriina: provide him with any resources he needs, no matter how rare or dangerous, and the reports will remain positive.

Kanashii the Fallen became aware of the suspicious deal between Gorbon and Seriina. Seeing an opportunity to tarnish the reputation of his former colleagues and ruin the alliance between the two races, Kanashii fabricated a story and informed a prominent blood elf Lianthe of House Sunfury that the Shadow was working on a plague to wipe out all life on Azeroth. Concerned, Lianthe contacted Seriina demanding if there was truth to the accusation. Unaware of the nature of Gorbon’s research she arranged with Lianthe for Gorbon to be intercepted in Silvermoon City during a routine visit. Under duress he revealed his true aim to the astonishment of his interrogators: he disclosed he is actually working on a cure for the plague. Lianthe’s fears somewhat assuaged, she accepted the story but remained suspicious. Since the research is contrary to the beliefs of the Forsaken, Gorbon returned to the Undercity in humiliation with all his responsibilities suspended until further notice. To prevent further embarrassment Gorbon was banished from the Undercity to an undisclosed location and kept under close watch. Recognizing the Shadow’s role in uncovering Gorbon’s research and thwarting Kanashii’s plot, Seriina received a special commendation from the Dark Lady. Any concerns over the Shadow’s necessity are quickly dissolved.

The Return of the Shadow Master and the New Threat

Nokzhal returned to his duties after a long absence in solitude. Unaware of the plot his order had been faced with, the news was a great surprise to the leader. Fresh from his studies Nozhal took up his mantle as Shadow Master once again and rallied his members around him. All signs pointed toward a prosperous year for the order however, an old threat returned anew. Gorbon had escaped from his “imprisonment” with the aid of the Scourge and was plotting revenge on the Shadow for his fall from grace. Having heard of Gorbon’s escape, Nokzhal and Seriina decided to hold a meeting in an undisclosed location to warn the rest of the order to be on the lookout. Unexpectedly, Gorbon discovered the location of the meeting and challenged Nokzhal, informing him and his comrades that they would be the first to fall to a new plague created by him. Gorbon was easily defeated and seemingly killed, but evidence found on his corpse revealed he had struck a deal with the Scourge to become a Lich and that a living, breathing, phylactery was holding his soul, allowing him to regenerate. Given time he could prove to become a terrible entity and threat to the survival of the order….

Hallow's End Event: Great Success!

For those of you that attended one of Thursday night's raids on Southshore a big thank-you! To those that could not make it, hopefully you can attend it next year. It's safe to say there were much more than expected with many familiar faces! A big thank-you to House Sunfury, Sunset March, Shadow Gallery and everyone else who attended! It was an honour to fight beside you on the battlefield! Your actions that evening showed the Dark Lady and the rest of the Horde the resolve needed in the face of our enemies!

Shadow of Sylvanas Hallow's End Event!

Shadow of Sylvanas will be “Stinking up Southshore!”

*A poster is nailed to the bulletin board outside the Brill Town Hall*

This year, like every year we remember the courage and determination of those brave undead men and women who with our Dark Lady Sylvanas, stood up to Arthas and the Scourge and formed the Forsaken. What better way to celebrate than to come together as Horde... and Stink up Southshore! The Shadow of Sylvanas will lead a raid on the unfortunate town this Thursday beginning at 8 pm (server time). So gather your stink bombs, grab your weapon and do your part in celebrating Hallow’s End!

When:

The “festivities” will begin at Thursday October 25, 8 pm server time. Two raids will be conducted: once at shortly after 8 pm, and another at 12 am (to allow flexibility for playing schedules).

Where:

We will meet at The Ruins of Lordaeron, Tirisfal Glades for the lighting of the Wickerman. Once the raiding party is organized we will proceed to Southshore in the Hillsbrad Foothills.

Who Can Come?

Any member of the Horde is welcome (although you probably want to be at least level 45 to partake in the raid). If there is a stiff resistance offered by the Alliance, even better! We enjoy a challenge...

Contemplations of the Regent Lord

As you all know Nokzhal and myself have initiated a New Era for the Shadow, a glorious Golden Age of Discovery! With our new-found friendships in Silvermoon and abroad our ability to take the battles to our enemies is becoming stronger and longer in reach. That is why we have decided to re-engineer our ideas on promotions from within, to promote cooperation and trust within our Order. We have decided on the following:

Promotions from Initiate to Adept will remain unchanged as it has served us well. Major requirements are two weeks of activity, and a showing of faith. These will move you into full membership.

Adept to Guard:
During this time depending on your class, we will find a suitable mentor to help you along your way. This mentor will be of your class ((editors note: or most similar class!)) and will have valuable experiences to share as they guide you further in your personal development. At the time you are both strong enough and have shown your devotion to our cause you will enter the ranks of the Shadow Guard, and undoubtedly have a comrade you can rely on for the rest of your stay with us.

Guard and Above:
As you become stronger and more experienced you will probably wonder “what’s next?” well I have your answers.

The ranks of Elite Guard, Shadow Stalker, and If you are worthy, Dark Lord. These will require more dedication, you will have to show a complete devotion to not only the shadow but to The Dark Lady herself. Only our best and brightest will be considered, but I know that we have chosen you all with this in mind and it should not be a problem to find those who embody these qualities.

It is my hope that this will aid you all in your journey and I look forward to seeing you all grow in strength.

In Her Name,

Lady Seriina Numenesse

Regent Lord of the Shadow

((OOC A brief divertissement))

As Shiina said in his last comment, things definitely were getting a little heated there! Seems people like to argue for the sake of arguing...

I Have Returned!

It is good to be back out of the swamplands of Zangarmarsh. I have fulfilled my duties for the Dark Lady and eagerly await civilization. I look forward to seeing many of you. At this time I would like to thank Seriina for filling very large shoes while I was away. Her commitment to the Shadow is unfathomable and Sylvanas is very pleased. Thank-you to those who followed her lead in my absence. Those who questioned her appointment, questioned my own judgement and also questioned the wisdom of the Dark Lady and will be dealt with.

Good Day.

Bound In Blood

To: All Shadow Members.
From: Seriina Numenesse
Regent Lord of the Shadow of Sylvanas.

I would like to take a moment to announce to all members of the shadow that I have spoken to the matriarch of the noble House Sunfury and it is with great pleasure I announce that we are welcome to join them in Instances Quests and any other general operations. I encourage everyone to spend time with our new friends and possibly finish some of the more difficult quests we may jointly share, failing that a nice hello would do fine.
They are most active in the City of Silvermoon, it is my hope that we can accomplish much with our new friends and possibly learn from them, pay close attention to how they operate as I will be looking to everyone in the coming weeks and even sooner in our next meeting for advice and possible ideas to revive our order.

Good Luck.

In the Lady’s Name,

Seriina Numenesse

Regent Lord.

Undying Greed

Greetings to those of the Order and Citizens of the glorious Undercity. Lets get to it shall we. I was greedy before the plague took me and I am even more greedy now. Funny how some things are unaffected by death and time. Hmm yes to the point. I have taken up adventuring with a young Paladin, she amuses me and for some unknown reason will not leave me alone. I try to use this to my advantage of course. I send her on dangerous missions into hostile lairs and then make her hand over the precious coins and lovely items she collects. Naturally I do most of the work and she merely gains battle knowledge bah. It seems I cannot get her killed and off my back no matter how I try. I now extend an offer to my confederates within the Order. We often venture into places that are rife with treasure for the less seasoned among us. If you wish to join us in one of our adventures, please mail me and let me know when would be a good time. I will post one per week and it will be by popular choice. Join us for glory adventure and maybe we can make this Paladin leave me alone!!!!

New Leader of the Shadow

As I had mentioned at the last meeting I am being sent on assignment for some time in Zangarmarsh of Outland. It is not a dangerous mission, but one however that I must take in extreme secrecy. Naturally, a new leader will have to be chosen to continue watch over the Shadow and to ensure that i's destiny proceeds unhindered. Most of you know Seriina Numenesse has been a faithful follower during her time with us. It is because of her charisma, her unyielding faith in our mission, and her devotion to Sylvanas that I humbly bestow upon her the position of Shadow Master. Listen to her order and advice as you would my own.

During this time I expect the Shadow to prosper. We hold steady at thirty members but continue to grow. Spread word of our order but invite only those who are worthy. I will not return to see an order of misfits, but an order mightier and more powerful than before. When I return after three weeks time, I will expect to see the prominence of the Shadow...

For Sylvanas, for the Forsaken, for the Sin'dorei!

Norgannon's Puzzles

As many of you may know for the past week I have been serving the Dark Lady's will in Kalimdor, with the first phase of my mission completed I now need help with the second.

I have in my possession a Tome of ancient origins; it holds untold knowledge and perhaps answers to many of our collective questions. Sadly it is sealed with several "Soul Wards" Seals meant to test the ability and worth of any who seek to possess the knowledge contained within; as described by Lord Varimathras.
This brings me to our task, we are to "Solve" or "Break" these seals but we must open the Book by any means necessary. That leaves us with two options; one, break the seals magically and damn any possible consequences to have the book in the lady’s hands ASAP. Or two, solve the riddles and remove the seals as they where designed.
I leave the path up to you all, I shall merely show the way, now I shall share the first puzzle with you, please mail all possible answers to me and in one weeks time I shall attempt to open the first seal, I shall reward whom ever has the correct answer. If we cannot solve it by weeks end, I will attempt to break the seal by magical means.

-The Shadow Seal-
"Who makes it has no need of it.
Who buys it has no use of it.
Who uses it has no knowledge of it.
What am I?"

Seriina Visits Outland

After persistently inquiring about her people's future in Outland I decided to take Seriina there myself by portal to Shattrath city. The trip proved to quell the young blood elf's anxiety and she witnessed firsthand the pilgrimage of his people upon the Hellfire Peninsula at the Sin'dorei outpost of Falcon Watch. Should any others want to witness the Horde operations in this land need only ask....

Shadow Influence Across Realms

My apologies for a lack of updates but much has happened since my last entry. Members of the Shadow assaulted the besieged city of Stratholme destroying any Scourge we came across. A big thank-you to members of Blood of the Seraphim who joined us in our fight.

Also, I have recently entered the Dark Portal and set foot upon Hellfire Peninsula in the shattered realm of Outland. There are many wonders and magical entities that reside in this land. The tradeoff is the world is full of great peril: dangerous creatures including demons and fel orcs; ghosts of the last human expedition into the Dark Portal; and the Alliance have a heavy presence of soldiers and support. Still, there is much knowledge to be gained about the history of the Orcish people and there are many herbs and magics that are of great interest to apothecaries and researchers alike.

Make way to the portal my brethren! Let us tap the energies of this land for the Sin'dorei and stake our claim on that which will make the Forsaken a force to be reckoned with!

The Fallen City of Stratholme

Greetings brothers and sisters of the Shadow. For now we have been able to halt the mindless tide of death that is the Scourge in the plaguelands. Still, their presence there remains strong by the Dark Lady is optimistic that we will soon be able to remove their presence from the land. Her plan is two-fold, remove the Scourge and the Scarlet Crusade, for if the Scourge is thwarted, their attention will naturally turn to retaking the lands of Lordaeron from the Forsaken. We cannot allow this to happen.

In the city of Stratholme in the Eastern Plaguelands we will enact our plan. The Scourge and Scarlet Crusade have a foothold, each faction holed up in a half of the city. We will begin our assault of the Scourge side this Wednesday, June 6th at 7 pm (Game Time). Time permitting, we may also law waste to the Scarlet Crusade. Prior to this, we will have a meeting of all members of the Shadow, new and old at 6 pm (Game Time). All are encouraged to attend.

Assault on Shadow Fang Keep

Over the week-end, four of the Shadow assaulted Shadow Fang Keep, the stronghold of Arugal and his worgen minions. Kelturin led the assault with the assistance of Kesare (priest), Melyne (mage) and Shiina (priest), evidently to acquire items to aid in the construction of a paladin weapon: blood ingots. Arugal was also slain as the keep was taken in the name of the Dark Lady.

Assault on Scholomance

A group of us assaulted the Scourge bastion known as Scholomance a couple nights ago. With the aid of members of the Burning Blade we managed to destroy every single undead we came across (minus some students who apparently just wanted to be left alone). A huge thank-you to Cutter who filled in when Toxos left! Also, a welcome to Korgrend who has joined the Shadow.

I have now entered the Eastern Plaguelands to aid the Argent Dawn in hopes of complicating any plans Kel'Thuzad might have for Azeroth. I will have to return to Scholomance again so any who wish to join me again please let me know!

My Return....

I have toiled far too long in the darkness of my mortification. Too long have the scars of my past haunted me while my transgressors roam free. I have stayed my vengeful hand far too long....

From my solitude I return. My will bent more than ever toward our goal, our destiny. Together we will reach Outland with our new allies the Blood Elves and destroy our enemies with the powers we will find within.

Join your brothers and sisters now. Fight together.

The time of reckoning is at hand.

Lunar Festival!

Greetings brethren.

It is that time of year again when we honor the heroes of ages past, heroes that vanquished the first demonic presence of the Burning Legion. Horde or Alliance, we are all called to the land of Moonglade to celebrate the victory of our elders and remember those who fought valiantly and fell. Fireworks may be shot all across the land in respect to Elune's power. While I myself do not care for the night elf deity with her blasted moon fire the druids of the alliance continually rely upon, our Dark Lady has allowed the Forsaken to partake in what some may consider a 'druid' tradition.

However, one of the fallen in the first invasion of the Burning Legion was the abomination created by the Goddess Elune, Omen. This two headed demi-god initially fought alongside the protectors of ancient Kalimdor and successfully drove off the demonic invasion. The demonic wounds it suffered from its many battles eventually drove the creature into a mad rage, turning on its former allies. It appears this goddess Elune has the ability to create but not to destroy, so naturally it was up to the races of Kalimdor to vanquish the ally-turned-demon. Every year during the lunar festival, it stirs from its slumber under the waters of lake Elune'ara and must be laid to rest.

Using what political influence we have, I created a large party of heroes to once again correct this past "mistake." Cairnift, a warlock of the Shadow and other Horde forces boldly faced the demon and after a lengthy and exhausting battle, Omen's body lay dead at our feet. Unfortunately, the foolish Elune blessed the creature with immortality so it cannot be silenced permanently. Still, this is one victory for the Shadow as well as all the Horde! I was able to capture an image of the fearless heroes that aided the Shadow!

In darkness,
Nokzhal
